Open to chimney solid fuel local space heaters such as Cast Iron Baskets & Inserts are not encompassed by the Ecodesign regulations except for the requirement to place the statement ‘This product is not suitable for primary heating purposes’ on packaging, manuals and website. Current regulations stipulate that open fires can still be installed.
