Sandstone Fireplaces

Fired Earth sandstone fireplaces are carved from blocks of a carefully selected and distinctive, hard sandstone. It should be noted that the characteristics of this natural material will vary significantly.

The stone has evolved from naturally occurring sand deposits, which on being subjected to extremes of temperature and pressure, fuse individual granules together.

As a result of this process, colour variation, veining and fossil markings are to be expected and indeed, are an inherent feature of this beautiful stone. Generally, the base colour of Fired Earth fireplace mantels will come in subtle shades around a mid point which could be described as ‘earthy yellow.’
